And the slave couples that didn't?

So love = slavery, sometimes then right?

So again no clear definition. No standard, just when you say it is uh OK sweets, if you say so Tongue

Nice try, but them feathers, maybe you should check your pillow to see if there is a hole in it

Real love is a good slavery.  If you are not a slave to someones emotional needs .. then you are not in love.  Love leaves you vulnerable.  You have to trust the person you are in love with or it's not love.

I can lay it out in black and white for you but if you refuse to see it ..   Well like the masters .. they could not force two slaves to love each other .. much like I can not force you to understand the meaning of love.

Have you ever loved someone enough to trust them with your emotions and feelings?  Have you ever trusted someone to do the right things and never hurt you?  Have you ever wanted to be with someone so bad it actually hurt deep inside?  Have you ever thought of a sexual relationship with someone as a form of unity that completes and energizes your emotional needs?  These are the signs of being in love.  Words can never define it ... just the feelings.

Hun, there are no holes in my pillows ... but the feathers belong to the birds you keep leaving for the cat.   Grin

So the question: Do you need a ring to signify this? Why or why not?

It's a matter or choice.  In all my marriages .. I never wore my rings after the first few months.  When I wore my rings, it was a symbol of my love for my husband and the commitment we had for each other.  After each one of them broke the commitment, I refused to wear my ring.  The ring was a significant part of our commitment.  It also let other people know that I was happy with my partner and intended to remain loyal.

For me .. a ring does mean a lot.  Some may not put the same value on it as I do but .... if they are truly committed, they will find something to be symbolic.

Snail .. if you were whole heartedly committed to someone, would you want other people to know it an if so, what would that be?

I did answer it .. and truthfully.  Seems you haven't even made an attempt to answer the question I left for you.

If you were whole heartedly committed to someone, would you want other people to know it an if so, what would that be?  Please answer this.   Smiley

The operative word being  .. you .. as in me?

I don't so much need the big church, wedding thing but I do need the symbolism.  See, the guy I am in love with .. he isn't able to verbalize his feelings.  Heck, he can't even type them.  Up to this point .. it's basically been just a little more than assumptions.  I feel that he loves me in every sense of what I call love but ... without him actually expressing it in words ... it is an assumption.  He may want to live together but maybe he is looking for a roommate with benefits.  I would like something symbolic of a commitment.
